COVID-19 Update - Math Work at Home Packets

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Dear LCSD Elementary Families,

Math Packets
During the period that school is closed to students, the Liverpool Central School District is making resources and activities available to students both digitally and on paper. Math resources for students in grades kindergarten through 6 can be obtained in two ways:

1. Starting tomorrow, March 19th, paper packets will be available at any of the food distribution sites - both pick-up and drop off locations. Please note, the packets are labeled with letters not grade levels; the labels are as follows: Packet A - Kindergarten, Packet B - Grade 1, Packet C - Grade 2, Packet D - Grade 3, Packet E - Grade 4, Packet F - Grade 5, and Packet G - Grade 6.

2. The second option is through the District’s single sign-on platform, Launch Pad, students can click the app Elementary Math At-Home Work. Students in K and 1st grade will use their Quickcard to log into LaunchPad. If your child did not bring his/her Quickcard home, your child’s teacher will be sending it to you soon. Students in grades 2-6, will use their assigned school username and password; this is the same username and password they use to sign into their Chromebooks at school. If you need assistance with this please contact your child’s teacher. Once in Launch Pad, the app icon looks like this:

When students click the icon, they will be taken to a Google Folder where they can find
their grade-level packet with Math practice problems that align to important math concepts and skills your student has worked on so far this year. These are pdf documents that will need to be printed.

Please follow this link to view a video with more information about the Math Packets: Math Packet Video (click here). We recommend your child completes one lesson per day.

Should you have questions regarding the Math At-Home Work in the coming weeks, please contact your child’s classroom teacher, or me directly at kdolson@liverpool.k12.ny.us .

Chromebooks
Our decision to keep Grades 2 - 6 student Chromebooks in the building was based on a number of issues that would need to be addressed prior to moving forward. The decision at the time was to move forward with paper packets in addition to the digital format. At this time we anticipate being able to move ahead with Chromebook distribution for grades 2-6. Device allocation for K-1 is still being considered. Please look for more communication in the near future about our Chromebook pick-up plan.

A Tech Hotline has been put in place to support you with any technology-related needs. Please call or email with any questions (315)459-6900 or you can e-mail lcsdtech@liverpool.k12.ny.us

We appreciate your support as we work through this together.
