Liverpool CSD Teams up With Local Districts for Second Pajamarama Challenge

Wednesday, November 4, 2020

It’s time once again for a friendly competition involving some of our biggest rivals!

Beginning next week, students at Liverpool High School, as well as other LCSD schools will participate in Paige’s Pajamarama. The charity event, which allows students to wear their (school appropriate) pajamas when making a donation, benefits Paige's Butterfly Run, Inc., an organization which supports children with pediatric cancer at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.  While Pajamarama is usually a day-long event, this year the cozy competition will last bit longer.

In 2019, Cicero-North Syracuse High School students challenged LHS students to raise more money for Paige’s Pajamarama by creating a challenge video, which went viral. While the 2019 challenge was initially only for the high schools, involvement grew and the event expanded to all schools in both districts. In the end, the schools and districts split victories with Liverpool High School earning the most money for the cause but the North Syracuse Central School District raising the greatest amount overall.

This year the North Syracuse and Liverpool school districts have reached out to the West Genesee and Fayetteville-Manlius districts to partner in the competition. North Syracuse and West Genesee are teaming up and Liverpool and Fayetteville-Manlius are pajama partners.

In the Liverpool Central School District, Pajamarama Collections will take place on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13. Keep an eye out for an e-mail from your school building that explains how donations will be collected in-person, as well as how remote students can drop off their donations.

In addition, Chick-fil-A is participating in a pajama day! On Wednesday, November 11, a portion of proceeds will be donated on behalf of all four schools if anyone stops by Chick-fil-A wearing pajamas and mentions Paige's while making a purchase.

C-NS senior Giorgio Rawda, who helped put together this year’s video, is looking forward to the outcome of the friendly competition. He said, “Supporting current and future pediatric cancer patients in Central NY is extremely meaningful, and turning it into a competition with other schools and districts provides a fun way to increase support for these kids. Although we may be clashing against each other in this challenge, we are essentially fighting in the battle against pediatric cancer, together. I am very excited to see how much money we will be able to raise by working together!"
